Your Privacy Matters

Drystreak is built with privacy as a core principle. We believe your sobriety journey is deeply personal, and we've designed this app to keep your data completely under your control.

The short version: We don't collect, store, or have access to any of your personal data. Everything stays on your device.

Data Storage

All your data is stored locally in your browser using localStorage. This includes:

  • Your streak start time and history
  • Dry January completion records
  • Settings (drinks per day, cost per drink)
  • Achievement progress

This data never leaves your device. We have no servers collecting or storing your information. You can export your data as a QR code to transfer it to another device, but this is entirely optional and under your control.

If you clear your browser data or uninstall the app, your data will be permanently deleted. We recommend using the export feature to back up your data periodically.

Analytics

We use Fathom Analytics, a privacy-first analytics service that is GDPR, CCPA, and PECR compliant.

What Fathom tracks:

  • Anonymous page views and session data
  • General usage events (e.g., "streak started", "mode switched", "achievement unlocked")
  • Aggregated statistics to help us improve the app

What Fathom does NOT track:

  • Personal information or identifying data
  • IP addresses (anonymized immediately)
  • Cookie-based tracking
  • Cross-site tracking
  • Your specific streak duration, dates, or any personal milestones

Events We Track

For product improvement, we track these anonymous usage events:

  • streak start - When a user starts a new streak
  • streak restarted - When a user restarts their streak
  • streak stopped - When a user stops tracking
  • mode switch - When switching between Streak and January modes
  • achievement unlocked - When reaching a new milestone (count only, not which milestone)
  • january day completed / january day unmarked - Calendar interaction (day number only)
  • setting changed - When drinks/day or cost/drink settings are updated
  • data exported / import started - Data transfer actions

Third-Party Services

Drystreak uses the following third-party services:

  • Fathom Analytics - Privacy-focused analytics (as described above)
  • Google Fonts - Typography (fonts loaded from Google's CDN)
  • Cloudflare Pages - Hosting and CDN (standard server logs, GDPR compliant)

None of these services collect personal information or use tracking cookies.

Cookies

Drystreak does not use cookies. All data is stored in localStorage, which remains on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.

Your Rights

Because we don't collect or store your personal data, there's nothing for us to access, modify, or delete. You have complete control over your data:

  • Access: All your data is visible in the app at any time
  • Export: Use the "Export Data" feature to download your data as a QR code
  • Delete: Clear your browser data or uninstall the app to remove all local data
  • Opt-out of analytics: Use browser privacy tools or ad blockers to block Fathom Analytics

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
